I Want to be Remembered as a Person who Wasn't Afraid to Start Things

I Want to be Remembered as a Person who Wasn't Afraid to Start Things

Somehow, I only just learned about Tina Roth Eisenberg aka Swiss Miss

I was reading Chris Guillebeau's new book, The Happiness of Pursuit and this quote got me:

"I want to be remembered as a person who wasn't afraid to start things."

I sat there and re-read it a few times. Really letting that thought set in.

I realized, that this is also very important to me. And, at times I've felt bad about this part of myself.

I love to learn, I get excited about new ideas, I jump right in. I try all kinds of stuff. And some of it I finish, some of it I don't. That's the part I feel bad about it, the not finishing part.

But then I read this quote, and something shifted. Here's someone who is very successful with a whole bunch of cool stuff going on, and she wants to be remembered as someone who wasn't afraid to start. That's it. The starting part is hard. And it's important. And...

I start. I'm a starter.

Starting is scary. But once you get into the habit of it, it's a bit addicting. And sometimes, the things we start turn out to be really cool and successful. Sometimes they end up inspiring others.

Sometimes they become great books, temporary tattoos, co-working spaces, trips around the world.

And sometimes they don't. But you'll never know if you don't get started.
