Thoughts on a Neutral Color Palette

Thoughts on a Neutral Color Palette

THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.

Stunning. Just Wow. I could stare at it all day. Here are some of my favorite images from the board:

My client shared this with me yesterday and I'm so happy she did.

I was shocked at how drawn to this collection of very minimal and mostly color-less spaces. Which was a good reminder of a couple of things:

1) Color is everywhere. Even white walls reflect light and have shadows that create a subtle variation of color.

2) You're home is a reflection of who you are. If you are a neat, organized person without a lot of mental clutter, your home should reflect that. White space is beautiful. It gives you room to breathe. It gives you room to explore. And to find peace...

3) Annnd it's the perfect neutral backdrop for adding color! And adding color effortlessly. Art, fabric and decorative lighting will look great and be fun to play around with. I just love the red in the Keith Haring art in the first image above. The neutral surrounding creates a calm space that showcase a favorite piece of art.

What do you think? Do you prefer mostly neutrals or do you like big bold colors? Or do you prefer a mix of both?
